since 1999 a Boutique Bed and Breakfast, in a 15th century palazzetto, is located in the heart of Casperia, a car free, medieval, hill top village, in North Lazio, an amazingly undiscovered but strategic location, just one hour north of Rome, and one and a half hours south of Tuscany. The geographical area is known as La Sabina, the beautiful rural getaway of the ancient Romans.
La Torretta b&b, reachable on foot only, from the large free car park below the village, offers 6 en suite bedrooms with dreamy views, and beautiful interior spaces, such as the elegant ground floor living room for guests, with a stone fire place and original 15th century frescoes around the cornice. The upper floor breakfast and dining room, is a contemporary space with exposed beams and an impressive Carrara marble kitchen. There is an adjacent outdoor terrace with breathtaking views of the Sabine Hills. Roberto and Maureen, who left Rome to live in Casperia in 1975, to lead a simple and more holistic life and give their children the opportunity to touch base with nature, bought the palazzo in 1996, with the idea of giving guests a chance to experience real Italian life instead of just being tourists. The restoration was a labour of love and today guests can enjoy the warm hospitality of a boutique b&b recognized by the Italian Tourist department as Ospitalità di Qualità.
